It's amazing how well bicarb of soda and lemon juice work on so many cleaning jobs around the home. There just isn't any real need for using chemical cleaners which are linked to asthma anyway.

Thanks for the tip, April. Can you use artificial lemon juice? The real things are very expensive on the east coast.

I'm pretty sure you mean cream of tartar - which is an acidic salt - and not tartar sauce, which is mayonaise with chopped sweet pickles and lemon juice.

If I may, I highly recommend a product that you may find useful in silencing those squeaky doors, etc. Jig-A-Loo is a revolutionary new product that combines the power of a lubricant with the properties of a water-repellent. After finding it, I'll never use anything else again!

Here is some information I pulled from the Jig-A-Loo website:It's a dry silicone-based lubricant that, unlike any other lubricant, contains no oil, grease, wax, petroleum distillates or detergent, so it doesn't stain or stink. It stops squeaks, un-sticks just about anything, protects against rust, and is an exceptional water repellent.

Jig-A-Loo is ideal for wood, metal, glass, rubber, leather, fabrics, most plastics and a number of other surfaces, helping just about anything operate and slide better. With thousands of uses around the house, garden, workshop, boat, campground and more.
